The God Who Changes Times And Seasons

Trusting God with an uncertain future is difficult. Trusting Him when the world around us changes can feel even harder.

Daniel lived through exile and the rise of kingdoms. Yet when God revealed Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, he praised the One who “changes times and seasons,” removes kings and raises others.

Daniel did not deny the instability around him. He saw beyond it. Kingdoms shifted, but God’s rule did not.

Acts 1:7 says times and seasons rest in the Father’s authority. Isaiah 46:10 declares His purpose will stand. Not every change is good or painless, but none can remove God from His throne or place us beyond His care.

We trust God’s sovereignty while life feels ordered, then question it when plans unravel or a familiar season ends. But change is not evidence that God has lost control. The God who held Daniel in transition still holds us in ours.

Answer this honestly:
What recent change has made you question whether God is still in control?

Make this your grounding truth:
Times and seasons may change, but God’s rule does not. I remain secure beneath His authority.

Let’s pray:
Lord, steady me when change unsettles what feels familiar. Help me trust Your authority without denying what hurts. Give me wisdom for this transition. Amen.

As this moment comes to a close, remember this:
Times change. The God who rules them does not.

Daniel 2:20-22 (NIV)

20 and said:

“Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever;
    wisdom and power are his.
21 He changes times and seasons;
    he deposes kings and raises up others.
He gives wisdom to the wise
    and knowledge to the discerning.
22 He reveals deep and hidden things;
    he knows what lies in darkness,
    and light dwells with him.

Acts 1:7 (NIV)

He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.

Isaiah 46:9-10 (NIV)

Remember the former things, those of long ago;
    I am God, and there is no other;
    I am God, and there is none like me.
10 I make known the end from the beginning,
    from ancient times, what is still to come.
I say, ‘My purpose will stand,
    and I will do all that I please.’

Lord, steady me when change unsettles what feels familiar. Help me trust Your authority without denying what hurts. Give me wisdom for this transition. Amen.

Times and seasons may change, but God’s rule does not. I remain secure beneath His authority.

My Times Are in His Hands

Seeing time through Christ raises a deeper question: Can we trust Him with what we cannot control?

David wrote Psalm 31 while facing danger and opposition. Still he declared, “I trust in You, Lord… My times are in Your hands.” His confidence came not from knowing what came next, but from knowing who held him.

Psalm 139 says God saw our days before they began. Proverbs 16:9 says we plan our course, but the Lord establishes our steps.

This does not make our choices meaningless or every painful event good. It means uncertainty never moves us beyond God’s sight or sovereign care.

We feel secure when plans unfold as expected. Faith, however, does not require a complete map of tomorrow. It places the unknown future into the hands of the God who is already there.

Answer this honestly: Where do you currently feel as though your life is being controlled by chance or uncertainty?

Make this your grounding truth: My times are in God’s hands. What I can

My times are in God’s hands. What I cannot predict, I can entrust to Him.

Let’s pray: Lord, steady me when life feels uncertain. Help me plan with wisdom, surrender without fear and trust Your care in every unfinished part of my story. Amen.

not predict, I can entrust to Him.

Let’s pray: Lord, steady me when life feels uncertain. Help me plan with wisdom, surrender without fear and trust Your care in every unfinished part of my story. Amen.

As this moment comes to a close, remember this: You may not know what comes next, but you know whose hands hold your times.

Psalm 31:14-15 (NIV)

14 But I trust in you, Lord;
    I say, “You are my God.”
15 My times are in your hands;
    deliver me from the hands of my enemies,
    from those who pursue me.

Psalm 139:16 (NIV)

Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

Proverbs 16:9 (NIV)

In their hearts humans plan their course,
but the Lord establishes their steps.

Lord, steady me when life feels uncertain. Help me plan with wisdom, surrender without fear and trust Your care in every unfinished part of my story. Amen.

My times are in God’s hands. What I cannot predict, I can entrust to Him.

Seeing Time Through Christ

The same hour can feel late to one person and early to another. Time is not only measured; it is interpreted.

Deadlines and visible results often determine whether we call a season late or wasted. Christ gives us another way to see.

Hebrews 1 presents Christ as the Son through whom God made and sustains the universe. The One who created and sustains all things cannot be measured by the timelines that make us feel late.

Second Corinthians 4:18 tells us not to fix our attention only on what is seen. Circumstances are real, but not the whole story. The visible is temporary; the unseen is eternal.

Romans 13 calls us to recognize the present time and awaken from spiritual sleep. Seeing time through Christ produces alertness, not anxiety. Wisdom recognizes what this moment requires in light of eternity.

Answer this honestly:
Are you interpreting your present season only through visible deadlines, progress and results?

Make this your grounding truth:
I will not interpret my life by what is visible or urgent. I will see this moment through Christ and live for eternity.

Let’s pray:
Jesus, free me from false urgency. Teach me to see this moment through You and live with eternity in view. Amen.

As this moment comes to a close, remember this:
Christ does not merely tell us what time it is. He reveals what the time requires.

Hebrews 1:1-3 (NKJV)

1God, who [a]at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the [b]worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had [c]by Himself [d]purged [e]our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

2 Corinthians 4:18 (NKJV)

While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Romans 13:11-14 (NKJV)

11 And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk [a]properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

Jesus, free me from false urgency. Teach me to see this moment through You and live with eternity in view. Amen.

I will not interpret my life by what is visible or urgent. I will see this moment through Christ and live for eternity.

The Light Of The World

The sun can show you where you are. Only Christ can show you how to walk from there.

Over the last two days, we have seen that God created the lights to mark time and make its movement visible. But created light has limits. It can illuminate what is around us, but it cannot tell us what our lives mean. It can reveal the road ahead, but it cannot decide which road leads to life.

In John 8:12, Jesus declares, “I am the light of the world.” He does not simply offer light; He identifies Himself as the Light. John 1 tells us that life was in Him, that His life was the light of humanity, and that He is the true Light who came into the world.

Second Corinthians 4:6 carries us back to creation. The God who commanded light to shine out of darkness now shines His light within our hearts, allowing us to see His glory in the face of Christ.

Christ does more than help us see our circumstances. He reveals God, exposes what is false and leads us into life. Following Him means allowing His light to challenge our assumptions, redirect our desires and change the way we understand where we are going.

We cannot claim to want His direction while continually resisting what He has already shown us.

Answer this honestly:
Where are you asking Christ for direction while resisting what His light has already revealed?

Make this your grounding truth:
Christ is my Light. I will allow His truth to expose what is false and lead me into life.

Let’s pray:
Jesus, shine Your light into every part of my life. Expose what I have misunderstood, correct the paths I have chosen without You and give me the courage to follow where You lead. Amen.

As this moment comes to a close, remember this:
Created light shows you the world around you. Christ shows you how to walk through it.

John 8:12 (NKJV)

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

John 1:4-9 (NKJV)

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not [a]comprehend it.

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That[b] was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.

2 Corinthians 4:6 (NKJV)

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Jesus, shine Your light into every part of my life. Expose what I have misunderstood, correct the paths I have chosen without You and give me the courage to follow where You lead. Amen.

Christ is my Light. I will allow His truth to expose what is false and lead me into life.

Signs, Days, And Years

We cannot see time itself. We see what marks its movement.

We see shadows lengthen, daylight fade, the moon change, seasons turn and years leave their evidence upon us. Time is invisible, but God made its movement visible.

In Genesis 1, God placed the lights in the sky to serve as signs for seasons, days and years. Genesis 8:22 describes the continuing order of seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night. Psalm 19 pictures the sun crossing the sky along its appointed course while the heavens declare the glory of God.

Creation does more than tell us what time it is. It shows us that time is moving within an order established by God.

The sun, moon and stars were never given to control our destiny or reveal our future. They point beyond themselves to the One who created and appointed them. Their order reminds us that even when life feels disordered, God has not lost command of time.

We often notice time only when it makes us anxious: another birthday, another deadline, another year without the answer we expected. But the signs of time were not given to produce panic. They invite us to pay attention.

Answer this honestly: What is the passing of time revealing that you have been too distracted or afraid to see?

Make this your grounding truth: God is present in the passing of time. I will pay attention without fear and trust His order even when I cannot see the whole.

Let’s pray: Lord, open my eyes to what You are revealing through the days and seasons of my life. Free me from anxiety about passing time and teach me to recognize Your order, faithfulness and presence within it. Amen.

As this moment comes to a close, remember this: Time is invisible, but God leaves signs of its movement everywhere.

Genesis 1:14-18 (NKJV)

14 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. 16 Then God made two great [a]lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. 17 God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

Genesis 8:22 (NKJV)

“While the earth remains,
Seedtime and harvest,
Cold and heat,
Winter and summer,
And day and night
Shall not cease.”

Psalm 19:1-6 (NKJV)

1The heavens declare the glory of God;
And the firmament[a] shows [b]His handiwork.
Day unto day utters speech,
And night unto night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech nor language
Where their voice is not heard.
Their [c]line has gone out through all the earth,
And their words to the end of the world.

In them He has set a [d]tabernacle for the sun,
Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
And rejoices like a strong man to run its race.
Its rising is from one end of heaven,
And its circuit to the other end;
And there is nothing hidden from its heat.

Lord, open my eyes to what You are revealing through the days and seasons of my life. Free me from anxiety about passing time and teach me to recognize Your order, faithfulness and presence within it. Amen.

God is present in the passing of time. I will pay attention without fear and trust His order even when I cannot see the whole.

Light For Time

Most of us do not need help knowing what time it is. We need help remembering who time belongs to.

In Genesis 1, God placed the sun, moon and stars in the sky to govern light and darkness and to mark seasons, days and years. Psalm 104:19 says He made the moon to mark the seasons. Jeremiah 31:35 describes the fixed order of the sun, moon and stars as something established by God.

The lights were created as markers, not masters. The sun can announce a new day, but it cannot define the purpose of that day. A calendar can organize your hours, but it cannot determine whether you are ahead or behind in God’s plan.

Yet we often allow deadlines, age, achievements and other people’s progress to mark our time. Suddenly, time stops feeling like a gift and starts sounding like an accusation: You should be further by now.

Genesis does not mean that every appointment on our calendar is sacred. It reveals that time itself belongs to God. When we receive our time from Him, ordinary days become places of worship, obedience, work, rest and trust.

Answer this honestly: What has been marking and directing your time lately: God’s order or the demands around you?

Make this your grounding truth: My time belongs to God. I will not allow pressure, comparison or delay to define where I stand.

Let’s pray: Lord, teach me to receive today as a gift from You. Order my priorities and free me from the fear of falling behind. Help me use my time with wisdom, peace and purpose. Amen.

As this moment comes to a close, remember this: The lights mark the time. God gives it meaning.

Psalm 104:19 (NKJV)

He appointed the moon for seasons;
The sun knows its going down.

Jeremiah 31:35 (NKJV)

Thus says the Lord,
Who gives the sun for a light by day,
The ordinances of the moon and the stars for a light by night,
Who disturbs the sea,
And its waves roar
(The Lord of hosts is His name):

Lord, teach me to receive today as a gift from You. Order my priorities and free me from the fear of falling behind. Help me use my time with wisdom, peace and purpose. Amen.

My time belongs to God. I will not allow pressure, comparison or delay to define where I stand.

Light Produces Warmth, Not Just Visibility

Light does more than reveal what is around us; it can also bring warmth to what it touches. A space can be bright and still feel cold, but when light carries warmth, it does not simply expose what is present it begins to stir life again.
That is where this journey must end. The goal is not just to understand light. The goal is to be changed by it. Revelation that only informs the mind but never reaches the heart is incomplete. God’s light does not only give knowledge; it awakens love, conviction, hunger, and holy fire.

On the road to Emmaus, the disciples listened as Jesus opened the Scriptures to them. Later they said, “Did not our hearts burn within us?” They were not just receiving information. Their hearts were coming alive in the presence of Christ. Jeremiah described God’s word like a fire shut up in his bones. That is what happens when God’s light moves from concept to encounter.
This matters because many of us know spiritual truth but have grown cold toward it. We can explain Scripture without being moved by it. We can talk about light while living without fire. But God wants more than informed people. He wants burning people.

Take a moment to think honestly: Where have you understood the truth but stopped burning with love for God?

Say this to yourself: I do not want light that only informs me. I want God’s light to awaken my heart.

Let us pray: Lord, let Your light reach deeper than my mind. Warm what has grown cold. Awaken holy hunger in me again. Let Your Word burn in my heart until my life reflects the fire of Your presence. Amen.

As you close this moment, remember this: the journey does not end with seeing the light; it ends with burning for the One who is Light.

Luke 24:32 (NKJV)

And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”

Jeremiah 20:9 (NKJV)

Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him,
Nor speak anymore in His name.”
But His word was in my heart like a burning fire
Shut up in my bones;
I was weary of holding it back,
And I could not.

Lord, let Your light reach deeper than my mind. Warm what has grown cold. Awaken holy hunger in me again. Let Your Word burn in my heart until my life reflects the fire of Your presence. Amen.

I do not want light that only informs me. I want God’s light to awaken my heart.
